Now, where have I seen that color mixer before... wait a minute... no, not Mac OS X.... Oh!!! Holy crap! This is from Windows version 1.0!!

Well, at least that is different.
 

Just for the heck of it, here is a screen shot of Windows Vista running a few of the Windows 1.01 applications including the control panel.

This is the 32-bit version of Vista. The 64-bit versions lack the ability to run 16-bit DOS or windows applications. Despite what some people believe this is not a limitation of AMD/Intel's 64-bit mode, but rather the old design of Microsoft's NTVDM that they chose not to revamp for the 64-bit versions.

Anyway, Microsoft has also completely rearranged the Explorer windows. Normally the file menu isn't even there anymore, but it suddenly pops up out of nowhere if you happen to hit CTRL-F or one of the other menu hotkeys. At least my least favorite menu item, the IE "Favorites" menu, is no longer there.

They have also redone the find/search utility again. This time it appears to be able to search from a search index so it doesn't have to go through each file on the hard drive.

Also there is no stupid animated dog. That alone is a significant improvement.
