5 years after Windows 95 introduced this feature, W2K adds a device manager to Windows NT.  This allows you to enable/disable devices, adjust resource settings, and update drivers for any device in the system.

One major change in W2K is the way in which the administrative utilities operate. Basic user management is now done through the "Users and Passwords" control panel applet.

Advanced user management and other functions can be done using the Management Console. The old NT 4 Server tools (available on the NT 4 CD) seem to still work on Windows 2000 if you really want to use them.

If I may ask, what is W2K doing with a Telnet server? Are they trying pretend they are Linux or something? This thing is a joke! The funniest thing is that by default it uses NTLM password authentication that only works with the W2K telnet client. They managed to lock out all non MS web browsers and now they are after telnet clients?

Eh? When I tried to activate active desktop this is what I got. Error 404 desktop not found? Didn't I have something like this in my jokes section? I have been asking for years, but I have never gotten an adequate explanation of why anybody would want a web page on their desktop.
