Now on the other hand the Microsoft Word viewer seems to work well
if all that is needed is to view some crufty old Microsoft formatted document.
For standard documents Adobe reader almost works, but has some painting
issues.
Trying a few other applications, Netscape Navigator 9 - the last of
the great browsers from Netscape Communication Corporation - seems to run
fairly well. But that is not surprising as it is mostly just a rebranded
version of Firefox.
Kicking around some "enterprise" class software, surprisingly the Oracle
8 client installed trouble free.
And on top of that it can connect to an Oracle 10g database!
Oracle Discoverer is Oracle's ad-hock reporting tool. Aside from some
tiny redrawing glitches Discoverer 3.1 ran perfectly. This screen shot
is of Discoverer 3.1 Administrator connected to a Business Area on a remote
Oracle Database.
This screen shot is the Discoverer 3.1 client (what the end user would
use), again connected to an Oracle Database, and again running almost flawlessly.
The only thing it can't do is print. (Can't print?! Oh, noes! The world
is going to end!!!!)
Shutting down ReactOS for now.
